Finally, we went to the Whitechapel Gallery and saw some of John Stezaker’s work. This gallery was much larger than the previous ones that we visited and looked a lot more established. Stezaker’s work  ‘gives old images new meanings by adjusting, inverting and slicing separate pictures together to create unique new works of art’. The gallery had different projects, some with more obvious meanings than others. For example, it took me a while to understand that the landscapes over the old faces were metaphors and imagery which juxtaposed with the old fashioned portrait beneath.
